How Meditation Can Improve Your Life

For a while we've known meditation was a great way to reduce stress and yet we never do it. The main reason is that most of us -myself included- don't do it is we simply get to busy. To be honest, I just forget most of the time. I get caught up in life or even just going to bed at a reasonable hour, that meditation is the last thing on my mind.

It's something that we should all make time for, many studies have proven that meditation can be very beneficial to our health.  In a recent study at the College of Maharsiski Medicine in Iowa it was proven that overtime meditation 10 decrease high blood pressure. It is also has been shown that meditation helps with concentration and reduces mass amounts of stress if done over a period of time.

But how do we actually meditate? How do we actually get our minds to relax to the point where it's relaxing? It's pretty simple, it just takes some practice. The best way to start is to get in a comfortable position, whether it's sitting or laying down, after you get comfortable you want to focus on a single object like the ceiling or a wall. Then take ten deep long breaths on the 10th breath gently close your eyes.

Begin breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth. This is the perfect time to begin your mantra the one I like to use is in "with positivity and out with negativity" repeat this for 10 breaths. Now start focusing on your body, starting from the top of your head to your hands down to your toes. Focus on how your body feels, how your feet feels against the floor and your hands resting on your lap, all the way to the top of your head do this for 10 breaths.

Now that we have your mind and body relax it's time to let your mind wander just think about whatever comes to mind for 10 breaths. After your breaths bring your mind back to focusing on your breathing in through the nose out through the mouth for 10 breaths, on the last breath slowly open your eyes.

Just sit there for a while maybe 2 or 3 extra minutes allowing your body to come out of meditation. Now you should feel fully relax and ready to take on the day! If you meditate at least 10 minutes each day either in the morning or before bed (whenever you can) you will see a great change and your overall physical and mental health.
